Project:
Washington State Horse Park
Location:
Cle Elum, Washington
Situated
on approximately 100 acres of pine covered land in the small community
of Cle Elum, the Washington State Horse Park will serve as a horse
show venue for the northwest United States . What makes this facility
unique is the blend of both English and Western horse enthusiasts
who will be using this facility. In order to address the specific
requirements for each of the disciplines (dressage, jumping, roping,
reining, etc), CMW conducted in-depth meetings and discussions which
representatives of each group.
The
resulting park masterplan reflects these spatial requirements for
the variety of show and exhibition uses which are planned. Particular
attention was given to the issue of circulation and safety. From
the time exhibitors arrive at the site to the manner in which they
stable, warm-up and ultimately show their horses; a safe and functional
layout has been established. Another important design consideration
was to retain as much of the natural pine forest which adds beauty
and character that is so indicative of the area.
The Washington
State Horse Park will include four show rings including one covered
arena, eight fifty-stall stables, warm up rings, round pens, cattle
pens, an RV campground, trailer parking, and participant and visitor
car parking. Adjacent to the main park will be a cross country riding
course with direct access from the park.
